Daniel Popper, a multidisciplinary artist, recently completed new large-scale sculptural pieces. “UMI,” which means life in Swahili and mother in Arabic, is one of five new pieces by Daniel Popper on display at the Morton Arboretum as part of the Human+Nature show.
The artist attempted to experiment with new approaches for this exhibition, working with 3d sculpting while also experimenting with new materials and construction processes. The sculpture "UMI" stands 20 feet tall and is made of steel and GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete). Daniel Popper's work will be on exhibit for a year.
